Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities:
The post will be supervised and therefore suitable for any doctor who has completed foundation training or equivalent who wishes to take advantage of the unique opportunities offered across medicine in the Newcastle Hospital foundation trust.
- Clinical: Whilst exact role may differ slightly by medical speciality, we would expect there to be a significant contribution to the day-to-day care of inpatients working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary teams within each speciality. Attendance at outpatient clinics would be encouraged. It is anticipated that development of practical procedures will occur appropriate to each speciality. A clear timetable of duties will be provided. There will be a required commitment to the medical 'SHO' grade rota which would attract the appropriate enhancements
- Administrative: Responsibility for in-patient records and discharge summaries for those patients admitted to the ward and communication with General Practitioners as necessary.

Essential
- Primary Medical Qualification.
- Full GMC registration and hold a current licence to practise at time of application.
- Minimum of 2 years postgraduate medical experience by time of appointment (equivalent to that obtained in a UK foundation training programme).
- Evidence of foundation competences (FPCC or equivalent).
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- Previous experience working in the NHS.
- Good history & examination skills.
- Able to formulate a working diagnosis.
- Able to order appropriate investigations.
- Image interpretation relevant to practice.
- Knows when to appropriately seek assistance from a senior colleague.
Desirable
- Evidence of competence in care of medical patients at post FY2 Level.
Maintaining Clinical Competence
