Job summary

A Vascular Sonographer / Senior Clinical Vascular Technologist post is available, representing an opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team, carrying out clinical examinations and playing an important role in the management of patients with vascular disease.

You will perform and independently report on a wide range of vascular ultrasound examinations. These will include Upper and lower limb arterial and venous scans, carotid and aorta scans, pre-operative vein mapping and arterio-venous fistulas.

Vascular Ultrasound is situated at our Freeman Hospital site, however work is also undertaken at our Royal Victoria Infirmary and Community ultrasound sites. We also provide the vascular ultrasound service for our neighbouring trusts in Durham (County Durham and Darlington NHSFT) and Sunderland (South Tyneside and Sunderland NHSFT) , and some travel to these sites will be required.

For appointment at Band 7 you will need to possess a degree or equivalent ( e.g. DCR, HNC) in a relevant physical, physiological or biological science, together with either STP Vascular Scientist, Post Graduate Cert/Diploma in Vascular Ultrasound or equivalent. Evidence of relevant clinical experience required.
