We have an opportunity for a Ward Housekeeper to join our friendly and dynamic team on Ward 40 at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. Ward 40 is a busy Gynaecological Inpatient Unit and also runs different outpatient clinics. You must have the enthusiasm and desire to deliver a high quality service to patients whilst maintaining a friendly and empathetic nature to provide support and comfort to our patients.

There is a high turnover of patients throughout the day, therefore the successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills, can work independently and as part of a team ensuring a clean, safe environment is maintained for patient's safety.

This role will be a valuable addition to our ward team, you will be responsible for ensuring the ordering of the units store items, drinks and snacks, ensuring the ward is adequately stocked. You will also be serving the patients tea rounds which includes serving drinks and snacks.

You will be working together with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the department is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.

The successful applicant will be flexible and willing to work shifts Monday - Friday 07.30am - 15.30.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a full time Ward Housekeeper on Ward 40 at the Royal Victoria Infirmary to fill a fixed term 12 month contract.

The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet patient needs, as determined by the Supervisory Sister.

The post holder will work closely with contractors and support services departments as directed by the Supervisory Sister. They will assist in escorting patients from the waiting area to the ward, help them to check weight and height and then to the patient's bedspace.

The post holder will assist in maintaining quality standards and rectify deficiencies.
