Job summary

Security Officer with Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust

Required to assist in the provision of Security Services in an extremely busy hospital environment.

The successful candidate will work within a team providing response to security incidents/alarm & fire calls throughout the site. Many response calls you will be required to attend can involve violent and/or aggressive scenarios. In addition, the role includes site patrols, handling of cash, dealing with and assisting the general public, traffic management across the site plus a range of additional duties.

Main duties of the job

Candidates should be able to perform well within a team, show great enthusiasm and be flexible as the position will involve working on a rotary shift basis.

Previous experience within a security role and an understanding of what this involves is required. Applicants must have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a flexible attitude towards their work.

  • The post holder should be able to communicate well, have good writing skills and be able to work alone or as part of a team

Desirable

  • Good keyboard skills / use of PC

Experience

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Portering / Security experience.
  • Previous firefighting experience.
  • Experience in other Security tasks such as the use of CCTV equipment, and has qualifications in the relevant areas

  • The post holder must hold a current Full manual UK driving licence and be comfortable driving light vans.

  • NVQ or similar qualifications
