Job summary
The ENT Department are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice who, alongside completing an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration, will develop skills and knowledge to deliver effective administrative support to medical professionals including consultant surgeons, junior doctors and specialist nurses, among others.
Putting patients at the heart of what they do, the Apprentice will work effectively as part of the administration team to support the clinical team in providing seamless delivery of patient care. On successful completion of the Apprenticeship within 18 months, the postholder will move from a Band 2 to a Band 3.

Main duties of the job
Typical duties will include fielding calls and enquiries, arranging or rescheduling appointments, maintaining accurate and up to date records, and intervening to promote a smooth running patient journey.

Throughout the apprenticeship the post holder will gain experience working in the Team within the ENT Department.
The successful candidate will develop the required skills to assist in the day-to-day operation of the section ensuring the delivery of a consistently high-quality service to the Trust.
The successful candidate will complete the Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration within 18 months
Working within a team of administrative staff supporting the provision of an efficient secretarial support service to Consultants, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff within their team, i.e., Specialist Nurses Speech & Language Therapists and Audiologists
Audio typing of letters and documents.
Deal with telephone enquires promptly.
Communicates with patients regarding appointments and admissions at the request of the medical / secretarial staff.
Cover admin posts Trust wide as required.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
