Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust to join the Northern Genetics Service based at International Centre for Life as a Junior Information Manager. The team are responsible for running and maintaining a wide range of network and data technologies critical to the running of the Northern Genetics Service and delivery of outstanding patient care across the region.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain and implement information technology (IT) throughout the Genetics department within the ILM directorate through a system of named individuals with responsibility for IT.
  • Responsibilities for IT extend to data requests from the Yorkshire and North East Genomics Laboratory Hub (Y&NE GLH).
  • All such work will be performed strictly in accordance with the Trust's IM&T Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • A relevant degree or equivalent level experience
  • A relevant higher IT qualification (or working towards) or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • ITIL foundation qualification, or willingness to work towards this

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of using and troubleshooting MS software (including MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook etc) and other spreadsheets and databases
  • Knowledge of IT service management techniques such as those outlined in ITIL
  • Experience in performing data analysis and producing reports in tabular, graphical and other formats
  • Experience working with and managing IT service desk systems
  • Experience of training in software applications
  • Previous experience of implementing IT systems and applications
  • Previous experience with IT service desk applications

  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices within medical Laboratories
  • Experience of solving IT related problems and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience of implementing IT applications
  • Extensive experience of Microsoft applications
