Job summary

The Trust is seeking to appoint a permanent Corporate Finance Manager Modernisation role. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, professionally qualified accountant, with excellent communication, organisational and people management skills. You will have significant experience in a financial environment, preferably within the NHS including senior roles.

This is a key role within the Directorate; the postholderwill support in delivering a professional, high quality service within the Trust. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Director in providing high quality and robust strategic financial management business support to Directorates and work closely with Managers and Non-Clinical Directorates to develop strategic plans and drive through Directorate CIP efficiencies.

Main duties of the job

The role will support in delivering a professional, high quality service within the Trust. The post will have a dual role. Firstly, to work alongside the Head of Financial Management and the Assistant Finance Director for Financial Management in the continued development and improvement of processes within the Financial Management function particularly in relation to the outputs from Oracle ledger and their adoption across the Financial Management Department. Secondly and more specifically, the role will have corporate responsibility for national staffing related issues in particular all aspects of medical staffing

The ideal candidate will have the ability to interpret and explain financial concepts and information to non-financial managers and ability to demonstrate initiative. IT skills are also essential and the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders, to challenge and influence others is key. The postholder will be able to work independently whilst supporting the Assistant Finance Director.

  • To be the financial representative on the Trusts multi-disciplinary Workforce Modernisation Group and related groups and to contribute towards the effective development and operation of the Groups (Recruitment Control Group, Medical and Dental Advisory Group, Junior Doctor Medical Recruitment, Workforce and Education Group).
  • To co-ordinate Financial Managements response to national pay related modernisation initiatives. Working alongside HR colleagues to interpret the policy changes and advise on the financial consequences.
  • Lead on the co-ordination, response and provision of information relating to some Trust-Wide Financial Management issues. This includes, but is not limited to, information required by the Medical and Nursing leads, NHSI/E Vacancy Reporting, Freedom of Information Requests, Agency usage etc.
