As we seek to continuously improve our services, we are moving to a strengthened clinically led structure of Clinical Boards, bringing together a range of clinical directorates and specialties and focussed on the needs of our patients and staff.
Each Clinical Board will be led by a triumvirate leadership team including a Clinical Board Chair (CBC), a Director of Operations (DoP) and a Head of Nursing.
The General Manager and Operational Service Manager roles are integral to the senior team within each of the Clinical Boards. Reporting through to the DoP as the operational lead for each board. They are key senior roles that will support in driving delivery and transformation to enable the Trust to remain a recognized centre of clinical, teaching and research excellence.
Main duties of the job
Each Clinical Board will have accountability for up to 3,000 staff and a budget of up to £250m. The General Manager role will be responsible for an agreed portfolio within their clinical board and provide the highest quality operational and strategic business planning and leadership. They will support the CBC, DoP along with the senior team including Associate Director of Operations, Clinical Directors and Quality and Safety CD's in ensuring that the Clinical Board provides high quality patient care and achieves its performance objectives.

Suitable candidates will have demonstrable and successful experience at a senior level, in a similar complex organisation or system, ideally in an acute provider organisation. As an experienced, compassionate and inclusive manager, with operational experience, you will have a recent track record of outstanding leadership in operational management position working in an NHS organisation in the acute or community setting.
Personal attributes include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alignment to our core values and behaviours, the credibility to work collaboratively with clinicians, senior management, staff and key stakeholders across the system, to build excellent and productive relationships.
Essential requirements include degree level education supplemented by a relevant postgraduate professional qualification and management experience to masters or equivalent level.
