Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist within our lifespan Burns & Plastics Clinical Psychology Service. Sat within the Clinical Psychology in Healthcare department in a tertiary hospital, we provide an extensive range of psychological support to patients and staff in the Northern RegionalAdult & PaediatricBurns Centre and plastic surgery department. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist with in interest in working in a physical health setting to join our thriving psychology department and ambitious multidisciplinary burncare team. Previous experience working in physical health is desirable but not essential. This is a lifespan post offering flexible opportunities to work with children and young people, families and adults depending on the needs of the service. Main duties of the job

To provide assessment, formulation and intervention for inpatients and outpatients across the adult and paediatric Burns & Plastic Surgery service To work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team around planning patient care To support research, service development, audit, teaching and training across the Psychology in Healthcare and Burns & Plastic Surgery service Facilitating reflective practice and staff wellbeing activities as required. Supporting the supervision of an Assistant Psychologist and Trainee Clinical Psychologists Contributing to regional and national burn care service development

  • Takes appropriate responsibility for clinical psychology provision specialising in a specific area (e.g. research and audit) to the service in which this post is located and making recommendations regarding service provision. Is expected to manage the care of the most challenging and complex psychological presentations presenting within this part of the service. Is required to provide supervision of trainee clinical psychologists.
  • Provides a qualified specialist clinical psychology service across all sectors of care to the population served by this post; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy. Offering advice and consultation on patients psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society
  • HCPC Registration
  • Post-graduate training relevant speciality e.g. neuropsychology, CBT, CAT

Desirable

  • Training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or fields of applied psychology.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of patients clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, and in patient settings. including outpatient, and in patient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
  • Experience of working within a multicultural framework.

KNOWLEDGE

  • In addition to obtaining the necessary qualifications and experience to practice as a clinical psychologist, has additional knowledge of national good practice of working as a clinical psychologist
