This is a great opportunity for an adult registered nurse ready to specialise in otolaryngology based is at Freeman ENT outpatients. This opportunity comes at an exciting time of change, as the role is currently being developed within our service. We are a small team of 6 nurses with various backgrounds. This role demands good physical dexterity due to the amount of microscope work. You will enhance your diagnostic skills through one-to-one competency-based training with the Medical consultant. Eventuality you will work independently in various outreach locations across the region. Some of these areas require lone working in primary care settings.

Main duties of the job
As an ENT Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for your own caseload of patients which you will diagnose and treat either as a nurse prescriber or using the PGD protocols. Driving and access to a car will be an essential for the role. You will work alongside a consultant and other ENT Nurse Practitioner to attain new skills such as nasoendoscopy and treatments for rhinosinusitis and other ENT related illnesses. All new patients are triaged through the e-referral system direct from GP's, therefore our caseload will include new patients and reviews of patients with chronic ear conditions. You will be allocated administration time to contribute to triaging and also for your own personal development time.

To deliver a quality of service matching clinical need to available resources within the focus of specialist nursing practice:
- To ensure that the patient is the central focus of a streamlined patient journey ensuring optimal quality of care.
- Working as a nurse practitioner, provide a prompt response to calls from colleagues, prioritising importance and clinical need.
- Manage own caseload to include assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment within defined parameters and training.
- Provide immediate care management of patient including communication of plan to patients and significant others.
- Review and refer to appropriate person, e.g. AHP, resident medical staff, specialist registrar or critical care outreach team.
- Liaising with Patient Services Coordinator where necessary.
- Communicate within multidisciplinary team, ward/departmental staff and/or out of hours team.
- Provide specialist education and training to departmental nursing staff, nursing and medical students.
