Job summary

We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Administration Assistant within Paediatric Management.

At the Great North Children's Hospital you will have opportunities to work with experienced staff and develop your future career.Our commitment to you is to help you gainLevel 3 Business Administration Standard within an 18-month contract. Hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week. National Minimum Wage at the 23+ rate for the duration of the apprenticeship, then Band 2 on completion.

As part of the apprentice programme, you will learn in the workplace with guidance and support from experienced members of the Paediatric Management team.

To qualify for the apprentice admin role, you must meet the essential criteria of the person specification.

Main duties of the job

  • Receptionist duties i.e. meet and greet visitors to the Paediatric Management Department
  • Support Paediatric Management Team staff including photocopying, laminating, filing, distribution of documents to wards, and any other admin tasks required
  • Collect and distribute departmental post
  • Establish staffing levels on wards each day and report any issues
  • Attend meetings, taking minutes and typing and distributing them following a standard template.
  • Coordinate charitable donations to the GNCH

  • The successful candidate will develop the required skills to assist in the day to day operation of the section ensuring the delivery of a consistently high quality service to the Trust.
  • The successful candidate will complete the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship within 18 months.
  • Working within a team of staff supporting the provision of an efficient service to Senior Staff and other staff within their team.
  • Audio typing of letters and documents as appropriate.
  • Deal with telephone enquires promptly.
  • Communicate with patients / carers / visitors / staff as appropriate.
