Job summary
Do you want to develop your skills in ENT-related voice, upper airway and swallowing disorders? If so, we have 0.2wte session (temporary for 1 year) available. The role will involve working predominantly at the Freeman Hospital in the department of speech, voice and swallowing. You will be integral to a busy but highly supportive team of SLTs working with patients with benign voice and upper airway disorders. There will also be some opportunity to work with patients who have head and neck cancer.
Training will be provided in required specialist areas and you will have access to regular FEES/VF clinics and joint respiratory/ENT clinics due to our close working relationships with these specialties.
We are one of the busiest H&N units in the country, highly innovative and active in research. Our voice/upper airways , service is nationally renowned. As a department we support and host national conferences and training programmes, and are committed to teaching, audit and research. We have close links with Newcastle University. This could be an ideal secondment opportunity for the right candidate wishing to gain experience in this field and would complement other adult acquired SLT specialties well.

Main duties of the job
- To be independently responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management and discharge of out-patients and in-patients referred from the ENT / H&N Service and closely related services such as Cardiothoracic, Respiratory and Oncology where specialist ENT upper airway knowledge may be required.
- To provide instrumental assessments including acoustic analysis, video laryngeal endoscopy, videofluoroscopy, ILO and cough provocation and FEES as appropriate.
- To act as an advisor to give support to more junior /less experienced SLT staff who treat these patients.
