Main duties of the job
Our patients are admitted either directly via the Emergency Department or following a period of intensive treatment in critical care.
We approach our work with the ethos that patients remain at the heart of everything we do, in line with the trust's Vision and Values and we are looking for self-motivated, confident nurses with a natural aptitude for empathy and attentiveness, who can demonstrate a sensitive yet self-assured approach with patients who are often very scared and uncertain about their recovery and future.
Nurses who thrive on both our wards have a natural aptitude for connecting with patients, to gain their trust quickly and be sensitive to their needs whilst managing often complex wound dressings, plaster casts and surgical drains. Attention to detail is also vital when observing changes in a patient's vitals, and especially when administering specialist pain relief.
Our patients are from multiple specialties. As such, this role would suit nurses who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in a wide-range of clinical specialties on both inpatient wards, many of which would be transferrable to the critical care or emergency care environments should you wish to pursue a career in those areas in the future.
