Job summary

We are looking for a Test Manager to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. Testing our eRecord PAS solution, web apps, devices and interfaces. The role requires a proactive and motivated individual, to ensure quality delivery of digital solutions.

Main duties of the job

Role responsibilities will include

  • Managing the test team.
  • Allocating and prioritising their work and reporting on progress.
  • Ensuring training and competencies are up to date
  • Liaising with Project Managers, Developers, Business Analysts, Clinicians and Technical teams.
  • Conducting UAT.
  • Manual testing of new systems, upgrades and bug fixes.
  • Requirements analysis.
  • Test planning and preparation
  • Creation of test scripts.
  • Updating existing test scripts in Excel.
  • Reporting and management of defects.
  • Creation of test reports to approve releases into the live domain.
  • Oversight, review and continuous improvement of testing processes.
  • Automation of manual tests.
  • Strong attention to detail with a thorough and robust attitude.
  • Confident in challenging peers and senior colleagues to report, investigate and resolve defects.
  • Able to deal with tight deadlines and regular pressure to deliver releases into a clinical environment.
  • Able to work remotely and with minimal supervision.
  • Familiar with common test tools.
  • Experience of working within the NHS would be beneficial.
  • Experience of working with Cerner Millennium would be beneficial.

Responsible for creating and delivering the Test Strategy for all releases and fixes to the key systems for health research.

 Responsible for producing auditable test processes and procedures for all aspects of the software systems. 

Produce testing criteria and user stories from complex business requirements. 

Responsible for both testing directly and managing other specialist and nonspecialist team members in testing the system. 

Advise on the use of automated and non-automated test techniques. 

Work directly and communicate effectively with users and stakeholders in order to establish test requirements, and give best advice. 

Ability to be tactful and persuasive with users offering and promoting different solutions by presenting a range of test options in line with the Test Strategy

Responsible for running various test cycles including, but not limited to,component, system and integration tests, regression testing, performance testing and usability testing. 

Experience of integration systems, the post holder will understand the testing lifecycles component, system, integration and user acceptance testing. 

Take initiative and work to deadlines as required. 

Discuss technical issues with developers on a daily basis. 

Able to maintain an effective overview of potential technical defects and impacts across the process lifecycle. 

Report on progress and issues at required intervals. 

Communicate effectively with the IS team, suppliers and users. Provide assurance to senior management and stakeholders about the acceptance of products prior to release. 

Work closely with the business to ensure successful testing as necessary. 

Ability to build a good honest working relationship with business users. 

Be able to communicate effectively as part of a multi-location team (e.g.:appropriate use of e-mail, and voice/video/network conferencing). 

Excellent and clear communicator both verbally and written; able to enthuse, develop and persuade stakeholders, users, suppliers and staff, in a variety of situations. 

Participate in requirements and design reviews Support Information Security assessments and resolutions, including test case development to assure resolutions are effective.
