Job summary
The Cellular Pathology Laboratory, part of the Integrated Laboratory Medicine (ILM) Directorate, seek an enthusiastic, suitably qualified Medical Digital Technician/Information Analyst on a fixed term until 30 September 2023.
The successful applicant will be part of a team of technical, scientific and clinical colleagues working in a key role and supporting the IT Manager in undertaking IT routine maintenance, supporting audiovisual requirements and troubleshooting duties, including basic microscope maintenance.
Applicants should have excellent demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills and advanced IT skills in order to join the team as an Information Analyst.
Good communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise a heavy workload to work effectively under pressure in order to meet the timetable of deliverables. As part of a dedicated team there will be the need not only to be a team player but have the ability to work on your own initiative.

Main duties of the job

The role is responsible for providing IT support to the Cellular Pathology Laboratory and other relevant healthcare professionals in the directorate and wider area.
The key tasks for this post are:
- Provide support to the departmental IT Manager by undertaking routine IT maintenance, system administration (e.g. Sectra, ICE), data searches and trouble shooting.
- Provide efficient IT support for a number of projects within Cellular Pathology and the Integrated Laboratory Medicine Directorate.
- Maintain and troubleshoot departmental audio visual equipment including teleconferencing equipment
The key skills required are:
- Previous experience in a complex and busy IT environment.
- Highly organized and able to work under pressure prioritizing work demands to meet deadlines often at pace as priorities change.
- A methodical approach with high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Experience of laboratory information management systems, LIMS (e.g. Apex)
