Job summary
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Podiatry Department is inviting applications for Band 6 Specialist Podiatrists.
Part time or full time hours will be considered. The applicant will have NHS experience as a Band 5 Podiatrist, and have completed or be in the process of completing a Band 5 competency programme.
This role is primarily to work within community clinics, and to carry out domiciliary & care home visits. The department also has a rotation programme as part of the Band 6 development, including the Newcastle Diabetes Centre , nail surgery, in patient service and biomechanics.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will be enthusiastic, conscientious and have a flexible approach. It is essential to be able to demonstrate good clinical, communication and organisational skills.
You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care across a wide range of clinical conditions. To meet the needs of patients with differing care needs, including patients with chronic diseases.
There will be an element of teaching/ supervision of Podiatry Assistants, Assistant practitioners and Band 5 Podiatrists, as well as delivering training to patients and other health care professionals. The candidates will also take an active part in the observation and training of students, and junior members of staff as a clinical educator .
