Job summary

We are now seeking to recruit Consultant Psychiatrists to join our community mental health services on a full time or part time basis. You will work in partnership with members of well-established multi-disciplinary teams, both operationally and strategically to drive forward innovation delivering the best care for our patients.

Every opportunity will be given to encourage personal initiatives, research, specialist interests, teaching, training, management, and leadership.

Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners, who have or are eligible for, a CCT or an equivalent approved indicator of training and eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work in partnership at both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external stakeholders. The post holder will need to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity.

Provide clinical leadership to the MDT responsible for the Consultant's agreed area.

The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with the General Practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies wherever relevant.

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of the interview date.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment

Desirable

  • Wide range of specialist and sub specialist experience within NHS or comparable service
  • has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients
