These posts are for Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry (1 WTE/ 0.8 WTE). The posts are based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester.
There are 3
parts to the Mental Health Liaison Psychiatry service- CAMHS, AMH and FOPALS.
This post is for the adult part of the MHLS. Although the base is LRI- work
covers all the 3 UHL hospitals- Glenfield
Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital.

Main duties of the job
Undertake
or supervise new assessments and follow up assessments of patients
referred from Accident and emergency and other UHL wards as needed, and to
provide senior medical support to clinical work undertaken by other
members of the team including trainees.
Provide
Consultant leadership to maintain high quality care for all liaison
referrals of patients with acute mental illness presenting with risks on
UHL sites.
Attend
multidisciplinary meeting with UHL consultants to draw up care plans for
patients with complex comorbidities and high risk presentations or frequent
attendance.
Provide
1 or 2 planned outpatient clinics, and help draft clear referral
guidelines in conjunction with trust management, to allow development of
areas of interest and need.
Liaise
with crisis and community based mental teams as well as statutory and
non-statutory sector agencies concerning the treatment and management of
patients.
