This replacement appointment is for a full-time (10 Programmed Activities) Consultant in General Psychiatry.

The Adult Community Mental Health Team is based at Hawthorn Centre, Coalville. The CMHT is the single point of access for all non-urgent referrals.

The Adult Mental Health Services in Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has undergone significant medical workforce redesign and the process in ongoing. At present there are 4 consultants based at the Hawthorn Centre. The post holder will work closely with the Community team and a 24 hour, 7 days a week Crisis Resolution team. One of the teams in North West Leicestershire CMHT has successfully trialled Pathfinder Project where in nurses following assessment of new patients discuss with doctors who then interviews the patient jointly with the nurse and make a joint care plan. The plan is to for both the teams to come together and follow the same model.

Main duties of the job

We are now seeking to recruit a committed Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Adult Community Mental Health Team based at the Hawthorne Centre, Coalville ,Leicestershire.

You will work closely with the members of the well-established multidisciplinary team of health professional – psychiatrists, specialist nurses, clinical psychologist, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, and administration staff.

On average the adult community consultant in this post will manage a catchment area size of approximately 80,000 adults aged 16-64 and will manage a case load of approximately 700 patients. The Hawthorn centre operates a single point of referral and the plan is to have daily allocation/referral meeting jointly by the consultant and the nurse. New referrals are seen in the outpatient clinic or by CMHT members if appropriate. Within a year of being in post it is anticipated that the current workload and job description will be reviewed with the Clinical Director.
