CAMHS Day Patient Healthcare Support Workers

Job summary

Join us in developing a new CAMHS Day Patient service for young people. This provision bridges the gap between inpatient care and intensive community support, offering compassionate, recovery focused help for young people and their families in Leicestershire.

We are recruiting five Healthcare Support Workers to join the team at the Beacon Unit in Leicester, working alongside nurses, doctors, psychologists and occupational therapists to support day patients aged 1317. We offer training, development and a supportive environment, and were looking for caring, motivated individuals with CAMHS or acute mental health inpatient experience.

The service provides structured therapeutic programmes, multidisciplinary input and a nurturing space where young people can stabilise, build resilience and stay connected to home and school. Many will have emotional regulation difficulties, trauma histories, ASD, intellectual disabilities or high risk behaviours.

Main duties of the job

  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team to assess the needs of CYP alongside registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, an Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapist, Psychologist and Peer Support.
  • With support from nursing colleagues, planning, delivering and overseeing various aspects of care, treatment and therapy interventions, to support the mental and physical health needs of the day patients.
  • Working with young people and their families/ carers to develop holistic care plans / treatment interventions.
  • Supporting full programme Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (training included).
  • Working with other agencies in a collaborative way to manage risk. Working within a team who prioritise compassion, adaptability and creativity.
  • Line management responsibilities.
  • Assessing and responding to risk.

You will be required to work 12-hour shifts either 3 or 4 times a week, between the hours 0f 08:00-20:00 across 7 days Monday to Sunday 365 days a year. Health Care Support Workers work on a shift rotational basis to provide care to our patients across all 7 days.
