This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse who wants to develop clinical knowledge, leadership skills and experience as a Deputy Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse.
Mill Lodge is a 14 bedded Specialist Unit caring for patients diagnosed with Huntingtons disease. Huntingtons Disease is a rare, inherited disease that causes the progressive breakdown (degeneration) of nerve cells in the brain. Huntington's disease has a wide impact on a person's functional abilities and usually results in movement, thinking (cognitive) and psychiatric disorders.
This is a challenging but immensely rewarding area of mental health nursing to be successful in this role, you will need to be enthusiastic, forward thinking and emotionally resilient. You will be working within a supportive multidisciplinary team (MDT), caring for patients with a rare and degenerative condition. You will also be able to develop your skills in both mental health and physical health nursing due to the complex nature of Huntington's Disease.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will demonstrate they possess the same core values as our organisation, Compassion, Respect, Trust and Integrity in all aspects of their work. You will be expected to provide clinical, managerial, and educational leadership to a team of registered and unregistered nursing staff and take an active lead in, or facilitate, the development of ward initiatives to improve the provision of care. The post holder, in the absence of the Ward Sister, will take responsibility for the management of the ward; ensuring the smooth day to day running of the ward and ensuring the wards systems and standards are maintained.
