We are now seeking to recruit Consultant Paediatrician to join our Community Paediatrics services on a full time or part time basis. Main duties of the job

We want a Consultant Paediatrics who can Deliver the highest quality of clinical care to our patents and carers The post holder will be required to work in partnership at both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external stakeholders. The post holder will need to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity Provide excellent clinical leadership and actively develop your team along with expert advice to our hospital and community specialists, managers and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care and future strategic directions. The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with the General Practitioners, hospital and community specialists and other agencies wherever relevant. A specimen timetable illustrating how the consultant timetable may be arranged within the current framework can be found in the attached job description. You will engage with the development of your Job Plan.

Essential

  • Qualifications:
  • Primary Medical Qualification MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice. On the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR
  • Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
  • Valid BLS Training

Desirable

  • Valid APLS and NLS (this may be mandatory for some posts).
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Postgraduate degree/diploma e.g. MSc, MD, PhD
  • DCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas

Experience

Essential

  • Community Paediatric Experience:
  • Usually, at least 2 years General Professional Training in paediatrics.
  • Usually, 5 years Higher Specialist Training, including 3 years in Community Paediatrics.
  • Training is now competency based, but certain level of experience is still expected.
  • Experience in the management of children with complex health care needs, Neurodevelopmental assessments.
  • Experience in clinical examination and knowledge of physical abuse and neglect.
  • Specialist experience in IHA (Initial health assessment) for LAC (looked after children)
  • Management skills:
  • Understanding of managerial functions. Basic management training or experience. Possess leadership skills.
  • Mobility:
  • Car owner/driver or alternative transport arrangements to enable you to undertake the job. It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement. (Lease car scheme available).
  • Teaching Skills
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate/ postgraduates and related professionals.
  • Research:
  • Underst

  • Specialist experience in Adoption and Fostering
  • Evidence of additional training in child protection i.e. attendance at specialised courses or clinical experience in this area
  • Personal experience of management duties eg: meetings / service design

  • Evidence of personal participation in audit.
