Clinical Fellow in Liaison Psychiatry

Job summary

To provide an opportunity to develop clinical competencies related to mental healthcare in an acute hospital setting which are highly transferable for many future career pathways. Applications are invited from candidates for a 12-month Fellow post in Psychiatry in Leicester Medical School and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. The post is suited to a trainee who has satisfactorily worked in a UK Foundation Programme with a psychiatry post - a doctor looking for a post Foundation FY3 post or in an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from Core or Higher Speciality Training. The clinical component of the post would fit with a doctor interested in a career such as Psychiatry, GP, Emergency or Geriatric Medicine or who is open minded regarding their future career intentions. All applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and must hold a license to practice.

Main duties of the job

The clinical aspect of the post includes experience of old age liaison psychiatry within the Mental Health Liaison Team based in University Hospitals of Leicester in the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. There will be appropriate clinical supervision in place for the trainee. The Fellow will be involved in supporting the learning needs of undergraduate medical and nursing students in clinical placement High quality Clinical and Educational Supervision. A programme of organised psychiatry curriculum teaching and participation in trust journal clubs and academic meetings Study leave. The post holder will have a Personal Development Plan that articulates with the clinical timetable .
