Job summary
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust provides Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in education settings across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland serving the children, young people (CYP), their families and communities. Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland MHST is an early intervention and preventative mental health and emotional wellbeing service.
The service delivers evidence-based interventions for CYP with mild to moderate mental health needs. The service is part of the national MHST Programme, which has been commissioned following the Transforming Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Care Provision: A Green paper (2017).
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and committed candidate to apply for this Band 7 Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) post.
Please note that applicants must have current registration at the time of application with the BABCP (with full practitioner accreditation).
The post holder will support the strategic objectives of the MHST in embedding high quality, evidence based interventions across the service.This will involve, working directly with children, young people and their families, as well as supporting the development of cognitive behavioural approaches and interventions across the care pathways through staff training and supervision.
Main duties of the job
- To work as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist as part of the MHST, across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
- To provide assessments, formulations and interventions for children and young people presenting with a range of moderate mental health presentations, for which CBT is evidenced to be clinically effective.
- The role would include using a broad theoretical knowledge base to provide consultations, clinical supervision and clinical skill groups for other professionals within the service.
- To work as a highly skilled autonomous practitioner, managing a caseload under clinical and case management supervision.
- To offer consultation and guidance to other mental health professionals, other treatment pathways and community colleagues.
- To contribute to the ongoing development of CBT practice, taking into account advances in treatment, theory and research.
- There may be opportunities to develop other aspects of CBT within the service.

As part of this role involves travelling between schools and clinic bases throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland having your own transport is essential. As part of this role you will be required to hold a valid UK driving license and have access to your own vehicle during working hours, which requires business insurance.
