Band 5 Staff Nurse - Eating Disorders

Job summary

Welford (ED) Ward is a 15 bedded eating disorder unit which cares for people with severe anorexia nervosa from across the East Midlands.

We need a highly motivated, experienced and conscientious Band 5 nurse to cover maternity leave for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. They will be a integral part of our well-established team, offering support and care to our patient group.

You will work closely with other Band 5 Nurses, Band 6 Nurses, Health Care Support Workers, Consultants, Medics, Dietitian, Speech and Language therapist, Ward Manager and Team managers to ensure that we are delivering safe, effective and patient led care.

The role will be based at the Glenfield Hospital site in the Bennion Centre. We operate a 2 shift system covering a 24/7 operation.The role will predominately be night shifts with 4 days shifts per month.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of clients/service users.
  • Assisting and contributing in the management and organisation of a ward / clinical area.
  • Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
  • Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
  • Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of clients/service users and their families.
