Job summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service.

You will be well supported to work on the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Coalville Community Hospital alongside a Band 7 and Band 6 SLT as well as within the wider community team, offering you the opportunity to work with experienced SLTs to develop your skills.

We will support you to develop competencies in dysphagia and communication disorders in a range of acquired conditions for example stroke and other neurological / long term conditions (eg Dementia, Parkinsons, MND) seeing patients in their own homes, remotely or in clinic (as appropriate to need).

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in groups and delivering training.

Our Speech and Language Therapy Service is city and county-wide having good links with our acute hospital colleagues and supported by a dedicated administration team to provide a high-quality service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We have around 30 clinical staff from Bands 4 to 8a. Our priority is on patient centred, holistic care and we understand the importance of supporting staff to develop their skills and interests.

Main duties of the job

  • Working with adults with a range of acquired communication and swallowing disorders, and their carers with support from experienced clinical staff.
  • To develop your knowledge and skills which we prioritise through a commitment to CPD with both internal and external training and protected time for CPD / professional reflection / mandatory training.
  • Your development is supported by your annual appraisal and regular clinical and managerial supervision.
  • To be supported through your RCSLT NQP competencies and dysphagia competencies.
  • To have opportunities to work in different clinical areas to find your interest.
