This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Band 4 Senior Health Care Support Worker.

The CAMHS Crisis Team has been developed to improve the access to mental health provision countywide across a range of statutory and third sector organisations.

It continues the development of a responsive mental health pathway that seeks to allow the provision of self-referral for mental health advice and support at any point in a service user's journey.

The post holder will provide basic health advise to patients who have been identified as not requiring onward referral to the CRHTT, or other services, and support them in managing their own symptoms at home whilst working under the guidance of a registered professional.

The post holder will be responsible for the prioritisation of presenting clinical symptoms, throughout a 24 hour period.

This will include the transfer of patient calls to the appropriate responders by undertaking brief clinical risk and mental state assessment, formulation and brief psychological interventions for people presenting in mental health crisis.

The post holder will be expected to work shift patterns to cover the provision of the service, to include Long days, weekends and eventually nights.

Main duties of the job

  • Excellent communication skills will be required, including active listening, validating and feedback to ensure the caller is heard and an appropriate outcome reached.
  • The ability to clearly record assessments and decision-making so that onward referrals do not necessitate repetition for the patient.
