Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Therapy Service for People with Personality Disorder (TSPPD/FDL).

The role involves working with people with complex emotional needs/personality disorder and compassion toward this patient group is essential. A working knowledge of this patient group is also required.

You will be working at Gwendolen House and working with Leicestershire Planned Treatment and Recovery Teams ,as part of the pathway for adults who present with moderate to severe difficulties associated with Personality Disorder. The role will initially be to support the City area although this is subject to change in line with transformation/ service need . The role will be delivering groups in line with our shortened Structured clinical management (SCM) programme, and later into the full SCM programme.

We will support you to complete the Anna Freud Centre 12-month training in SCM, which will require learning through didactic training days and participation in external clinical supervision. Successful completion will lead to you acquiring SCM Practitioner status with the Anna Freud Centre.

We will also support your continued professional development in SCM through internal and external training/events. You will be working within sub-teams which include senior clinical staff, assistant psychology staff and peer support workers to work collaboratively with service users.

Main duties of the job

The post is likely to suit someone who enjoys challenges and working in a team, is flexible, and has an ongoing commitment to working with Personality Disorder within group settings.

We would welcome applications from registered individuals who are reflective and can consider the therapeutic relationship and the impact the work has on them. Candidates will require high levels of energy, enthusiasm, commitment, and resilience to succeed in this role, which is important in further improving mental health services for the diverse population we serve. The SCM role involves delivering treatments within groups and the individual sessions which form part of the Structured Clinical Management treatment pathway.

You will also be working within the TSPPD team based at Gwendolen house and with staff working into the MBT treatment pathway such as the Therapeutic Community and Mentalisation Based intervention programme. There is support in place to manage treatment group dynamics, this involves detailed planning and supervision to ensure that groups are being run in line with the SCM stance.

Assessment, safeguarding and risk management would be an intrinsic part of the role. You must have a core profession and significant experience of working with the client group.
