We have a rare opportunity to gain a highly sought after band 6 rotational post specialising in Neurology and Stroke. These posts are always very popular and highly desirable as they include rotations in Acute Stroke, Stroke rehabilitation, Early Supported Discharge Service (ESDS), Specialist Neurological Rehab Unit, Brain Injury Unit, Community Integrated Neurology and Stroke Service (CINSS) and Acute Neurology. These areas are very specialised and offer considerable experience working with a diverse range of stroke and neurological patients in a variety of health care settings.
The rotations are 12 months long to allow you to develop your skills in each area and become part of the team. You will work alongside highly skilled clinical specialist staff from the MDT and will be supported by a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist within each of the rotations.
There is a structured support network in each rotation so you will receive regular supervision and appraisals.
There is a training programme in place in each rotational area and a comprehensive induction package.
There will be opportunities to learn and attend external training but you will also be expected to take an active role in your CPD in order to develop your skills within this specialty.
Main duties of the job
The CINSS and ESDS rotations are community based and cover Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
These rotations require the use of a car that can be used for work purposes and a UK driving licence and will be based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre.
There is the potential to work across community clinics within the CINSS rotation. There are rotations based at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital that include Acute Stroke, Stroke Rehabilitation, Level 1 Brain Injury Unit and Level 2a Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit and the Acute Neurology ward.
The rotation works across the organisations of LPT and UHL, and the successful candidate will be employed by LPT. Both job descriptions are attached to the advert.
As part of closer working relationships between the 2 organisations the successful candidate will be able to complete the full rotation working in all clinical areas, this will be facilitated by a secondment agreement.
The successful candidate will be expected to support and train less experienced staff and to be a clinical educator to students from a number of different universities across the country.
A basic respiratory skill set is desirable however training will be offered as required.
