Job summary
We are very pleased to be able to advertise substantive psychology posts as part of an expanding psychology team.
In response to national plans to transform mental health services we have built a substantial organisational sub-structure with psychologists in lead roles including directorate level. We have pathway leads for complex trauma, psychosis and personality disorders who are supported by psychologists at every grade. There are therefore clear career paths for psychologists who join us and we are committed to supporting your development. We support our psychologists to employ the full range of their skills, and to divide their time accordingly.
You will be able to participate in teaching, training, research, service development, managerial and clinical supervision, team supervision, reflective practice and direct clinical work for individuals and groups. The advertised post is for a band 8b psychologist, and we would also welcome applications from those aspiring to step up to this grade.
The Neighbourhood Team is multidisciplinary, including Community Connectors, Peer Support Workers, Health Care Support Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychiatric Nurses and Occupational Therapists. Teams will work closely with Social Care, Primary Care and Voluntary Community & Social Enterprise.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide a highly specialist clinical psychology assessment and therapy service to a Community Mental Health Team serving the South Leicester locality. This will entail work with patients falling within the remits of this service and its catchment areas.
The post-holder will offer advice and consultation on patients psychological care to non- psychologist colleagues, and where appropriate deliver psychological interventions; working autonomously within professional guidelines and the Trust policies, procedures and service priorities.
The post-holder will participate fully in multidisciplinary clinical teams, often leading them, in providing a service to their patients.
The post-holder will deploy knowledge and skills in general aspects of clinical psychology including the assessment and treatment of patients who are legally detained as mentally ill.
The post-holder will be capable of conducting projects, working independently, with only general briefings and working directly to senior managers.
