Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust for a Legal Services Assistant to support in the delivery of a comprehensive legal service.

The legal services team is a small, niche and professional team which is responsible for the portfolio of clinical negligence and public/employers liability claims, Inquests, court of protection and the provision of healthcare advice.

The role is integral to the legal department and amongst other duties will support the administration of all legal matters relating to claims, inquests and other legal matters in the Trust.

The successful candidate should be motivated, organised and have effective communication skills with the ability to be diplomatic and tactful on occasions. In return you will receive training and support to develop your skills and make a genuine contribution to improving patient experience.

Main duties of the job

  • To reduce the workload of the Senior Legal Services Officer and the Head of Legal Services by acting on their behalf wherever possible in legal matters. To prioritise and escalate those matters that requires the Senior Legal Services Officer or the Head of Legal Services personal attention.
  • To assist the Senior Legal Services Officer in the development of, and support to, the administration of all legal services related to claims, inquests, and legal cases of the Trust.
  • To administer those legal services meetings requiring the taking of minutes and progressing issues on behalf of the Senior Legal Services Officer and the Head of Legal Services.
  • To assist the Senior Legal Services Officer, advising on legal services, where appropriate.
