Job summary

We are rapidly expanding our Neurodevelopmental (ND) offer to the children and young people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR). Leicestershire Partnership Trust (LPT) has the fabulous opportunity to grow our team positively impacting the experience for children, young people & their families.

This post is part of the ongoing ND Improvement Programme that set outs to improve the outcomes of children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by identifying the resources committed to diagnosis and care, agreeing opportunities for improvement and implementing models.

Successful candidates will join a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and administrative colleagues feeding into the ND programme.

You will have the skills to consistently deliver high quality care & work creatively with colleagues with our CYP and families at the centre.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide highly specialist leadership in assessment and diagnostic decision making for children and young people with possible Autism on behalf of the Community Paediatrics Service. Key elements of responsibility:

  • To work as part of multi-agency teams to complete Autism assessments and also to develop the skills of professionals within the team to assess for possible Autism and communicate the final outcome appropriately with care-givers.
  • To assist in the development and monitoring of the service in this area to ensure up-to-date guidance is followed and parental feedback is reflected in the pathway changes.
  • To support in the maintenance of effective parent and school partnership working as part of a balanced assessment.
  • Be responsible for supporting service improvement, quality assurance of practice in Autism assessment based on regional and national guidelines for service delivery, and divisional/trust strategic priorities considering the Neurodevelopmental Transformation Programme.
  • To provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and signposting approaches for children and young people with identified Autism and/or differential diagnosis.
  • To demonstrate specialist knowledge in differential diagnosis and appropriate signposting for families and also to train members of team to better identify this.
  • Interpreting and implementing national and regional policies relating to Autism assessment e.g. Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists Clinical Guidelines.
