Job summary

This is a new position to provide support to the network and server infrastructure of the organisation with a particular focus on support of the internal Virtual Desktop and Virtual Server Infrastructure.

This position will be working within the 3rd Line support team of Leicestershire Health Informatics, providing IT Support to NHS Services within the county and beyond.

Due to the number of different technologies used within the organisation this position offers an exciting opportunity to increase your breadth and depth of knowledge in an ever changing environment.

The successful applicant will be working within a team that designs, implements and supports systems across the county to the benefit of Both NHS Staff and Service Users.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide both Onsite and Remote support as required.
  • Support Server operations both Microsoft and Linux
  • Support Trust Virtualisation platforms, HyperV and VMware.
  • Work with the team in managing the WAN, LAN including Wireless Infrastructure HSCN connections, VOIP telephony and Internet, including security
  • Maintain Server Hardware by providing both Break fix and proactive support.
  • Liaising with external suppliers on new projects and purchases.
  • Act as Technical Lead for projects as required.
  • Ensuring Documenting is complete for systems to assist colleagues in support functions.
  • Promoting best practice in relation to System Security.
As the NHS is a 24 /7 organisation the post holder will be required to be able to precipitate in the On Call Support Rota if required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Degree Level or Equivalent with a significant focus on IM&T.
  • At least one qualification in an IM&T related industry qualification, or demonstrable relevant experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 12 months.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Experience

Essential

  • Specialist Knowledge and expertise across two or more specialised areas such as:
  • Installation and Troubleshooting of current Windows Desktop Operating systems
  • Management of Windows Virtual Desktops
  • Installation and Troubleshooting of current Windows Server Operating systems.
  • Management of Group Policy & Active Directory.
  • Microsoft SCCM
  • Virtualisation such as HyperV or VMware ESXI
  • Troubleshooting Server Hardware
  • On Premise or Cloud backup solutions
  • Configuring Network switches and / or Routers
  • Firewall management and configuration

Desirable

  • Experience of Working in Public Sector Organisation.
  • Experience of Supporting Linux based Systems.
