Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust
This job is now closed
Job summary
Band 5 apprenticeship leading to Band 6 following successful completion of the programme.Candidates who have already completed a CAP (CAMHS) programme are encouraged to apply.
Working in partnership with Nottingham Trent University, this exciting apprenticeship leads to a Master Level qualification over 18 months. You will be employed full time by the Trust and your time will be split between 2 days a week of academic teaching/study and 3 days in clinical practice.
Teaching and assessment days will be in person at Nottingham Trent University one day per week term time, with teaching blocks each term alongside an end point assessment. Applicants must be willing to travel to undertake this teaching.
Job offers to successful candidates will be conditional on successful enrolment on the CAP Masters course. The course will commence in September 2024.
As this opportunity is offered as an Apprenticeship all training and travel costs are paid for by the employer. Upon successful application to the apprenticeship scheme, a training contract will be given which equates to annexe 21 (Agenda for Change pay scale).
This opportunity is open to graduate psychologists holding a degree in Psychology. This qualification will fill an identified skills gap between assistant psychologists and qualified clinical psychologists.
CAP colleagues are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist.
Main duties of the job
CAP apprentices work alongside qualified Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists as part of the psychological services contribution to the locality multidisciplinary community teams across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Clinical bases for this programme will be discussed at interview.
The CAPs are a flexible workforce, competent in the planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based psychological interventions.
We are looking to recruit to a CAP post within the CAMHS outpatient team. CAPs are trained to work with specific populations and therefore provide a more prescribed range of activities than Clinical Psychologists. They will be a valued addition to our multi-disciplinary community teams within the service.
The CAP role is a new psychology career pathway in its own right, therefore the selection process will aim to recruit those suitable for and committed to training for this role, rather than those who might be seeking interim experience to support their applications for Clinical or Counselling doctoral training.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme the apprentice will continue in the same team as a Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have a commitment to working in the local region, from those with diverse backgrounds and from people who bring lived experience relevant to mental health work.
