Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Therapy Service for People with Personality Disorder (TSPPD/FDL). The role involves working with people with complex emotional needs/personality disorder and compassion toward this patient group is essential. A working knowledge of this patient group is also required.
You will be working at Gwendolen House and working with Leicestershire Planned Treatment and Recovery Teams ,as part of the pathway for adults who present with moderate to severe difficulties associated with Personality Disorder. The role will initially be to support the City area although this is subject to change in line with transformation/ service need .
The role will be delivering groups in line with our shortened Structured clinical management programme, and later into the full SCM programme.
You will be working within sub-teams which include senior clinical staff, assistant psychology staff and peer support workers to work collaboratively with service users.
Within the service, there is a high level of support, supervision, CPD and training to support staff to provide the treatment options the service offers and this will be provided once you join the team.
We are advertising for one full-time position and flexible working requests will be considered in line with the needs of service delivery.
A core profession is essential - Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, physiotherapist or psychologist.
Main duties of the job
As part of the wider team, you will be involved in referral management meeting, initial assessment of people coming into the service and detailed pre-treatment assessments- which includes formulation in line with the 5 p's and safety planning.
The role also involves delivering treatments within groups and the individual sessions which form part of the Structured Clinical Management treatment pathway.
Risk assessment / management and safeguarding will also be a part of the role in line with LPT policies and procedures.
We will be working with the locality team and part of this role will be to act as a link with that CMHT and spend time with your allocated area in order to build relationships and as part of collaborative working. You will also be an advocate for people with personality disorder.
We plan to run 2-3 shortened SCM groups within each locality in order to proactively manage the large waiting list for treatment. The service is also planning the development of a 12-18-month SCM group for those with more complex needs.
There is also collaborative working with staff working in the MBT treatment pathway such as the Therapeutic Community and Mentalisation Based intervention programme as part of the overall TSPPD service .
There is support in place to manage treatment group dynamics, this involves detailed planning and supervision to ensure that groups are being run in line with the SCM stance.
