Main duties of the job

For further information please see the attached Job and Person Specification, some main duties include:

Working as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist within Psychological Therapy Services and across Adult and MHSOP Planned Treatment and Recovery Teams as an autonomous cognitive behavioural psychotherapist with responsibility for the effective management and treatment of patients with complex presentations.

Provide evidence-based CBT interventions and develop treatment initiatives by means of expert evaluation, innovation, and research and providing expert CBT education, training and supervision to clinical staff working within or external to the Trust.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • A core mental health professional qualification and registration with the appropriate statutory professional regulatory body i.e., NMC, HCPC or BABCP.
  • Post-graduate Diploma or higher qualification in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy or equivalent e.g., recognised qualification as a High Intensity IAPT therapist.
  • Full practitioner accreditation with BABCP.

Desirable

  • Level 3 EMDR training.
  • MSc in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy to the standards of core professional body and the BABCP.

Experience

Desirable

  • Post qualification experience of delivering specialist cognitive behavioural psychotherapy in secondary care, for adults, or older people or children /adolescence with a range of mental health problems.
  • Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
  • Experience in highly specialist cognitive behavioural psychotherapy assessment and treatment in a variety of settings e.g., outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient and in patients home.
  • Experience of delivering specialist cognitive behavioural psychotherapy to a wide range of patients (primarily aged 16 and above) from different demographic and cultural backgrounds, including working with interpreters.
  • Experience of teaching and training others using a variety of multi-media materials suitable for clinical, professional, and academic settings.
