Job summary

We are pleased to advertise this new role within Therapy Services for People with Personality Disorder (TSPPD). The post holder will be part of the TSPPD Senior Management Team. The Service is in transformation and it is a very exciting time. There are 30+ clinicians within the service.

The post holder will employ a full range of skills: teaching, training, supervision, research, service development, management and clinical supervision, team supervision, reflective practice and interventions. Experience and insight of diversity matters is key.

This full-time post could potentially be amalgamated with another post we have out to advert at this time for a B8b Clinical Psychologist working into our East Leicestershire Community Mental Health Team (Ref C9313-23-0435). Alternatively, this post can be offered part-time rather than full-time.

This post attracts a Welcome Bonus. This comprises of an initial payment of £1800 pro rata to hours worked (payable with your first salary); a further payment of £1800 pro rata to hours worked after 12 months service and a final payment of £1400 pro rata to hours worked after 18 months service. Qualifying criteria and Scheme Rules do apply, including a minimum tenure in post of 24 months to avoid any repayment. Full details are available upon request.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time to join the Therapy Services for People with Personality Disorder as we continue to develop our offer of psychological therapies and psychologically -informed approaches. In this new role as a Principal Clinical Psychologist, you will be part of the services' multi-professional leadership team driving forwards innovative changes in practice and providing the opportunity to develop your skills in strategic areas. You will take a key clinical leadership role in the service alongside other clinical leads. You will be supported by the Personality Disorder Pathway Lead/Consultant Clinical Psychologist, who will offer professional, managerial, and clinical supervision.

The role will offer a variety of opportunities which will include direct formulation and intervention, training of other professionals, service development and leadership, clinical supervision and consultation to others, and service development. There will be opportunities to shape the role and for continued professional development in areas relevant to service delivery and development.

As part of an extensive wider psychology structure you will, through regular networking and supervision, be supported to apply the range of Clinical Psychologist capacities thereby developing yourself and our offers.

  • Doctoral level of knowledge of Clinical Psychology including knowledge of Lifespan Developmental Psychology, models of psychopathology, psychometrics and neuro-psychology as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and two or more distinct psychological therapies to at least practitioner level.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other staff groups outside applied psychology services.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in difficult to treat groups, including with people with difficulties associated with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder"
