Job summary

Due to career progression, the CAMHS LDT are seeking to recruit to the CAMHS LD Outreach Manager / Senior Nurse post for a 12 month fixed term/secondment contract.

This is a full time post to work as the service manager/senior nurse within the CAMHS LD Outreach service providing assessment, intervention and treatment for children and young people with an Intellectual (Learning) Developmental Disability presenting with a wide range of mental health and neurodevelopmental needs and behaviours that challenge.

Predominately, the post holder will manage a nursing workforce within our outreach service but will also work alongside the wider MDT undertaking Initial assessments, duty worker reviews and partaking in the CAMHS LD Senior Nurse on call rota.

The post holder will also work autonomously within the outpatient service holding a small outpatient case load.

Main duties of the job

  • The post-holder will manage and co-ordinate the nursing component of the CAMHS LD Outreach Service. This includes nurses and HCSWs of bands 3 to 6 and band 6 Positive Behaviour Support practitioners.
  • They will take an active role in supporting the Senior Clinical/operational Team Leads for CAMHS LDT, in the maintenance of clinical nursing standards, and assist in the development of the nursing team and any future developments of the service as a whole
  • The post holder will be expected to work flexible hours as the need for the service indicates. This will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays when service and patient need dictates.
  • The post holder will maintain and expand clinical knowledge to lead the team to evidence based care working within the principles of Positive Behaviour Support.
  • The post holder will undertake a robust clinical and line management supervision system that will lead to evidence based care.
  • The post holder will participate in the CAMHS LD Senior Nurse on call rota.

To ensure the delivery of a clinically effective service which meets the needs of individuals, families and communities in line with local and national development plans, Trust policies and procedures.

The post holder will provide good leadership and management, to develop and sustain a positive working culture.

To work collaboratively with other senior nurses within CAMHS LDT and wider CAMHS appropriate and promote the role of their speciality nursing to all stakeholders.

Clinical Responsibilities

To lead and facilitate the clinical nursing component for Outreach Service.

To put into effect Authority, Trust and Service Policies and Procedures and maintain them in the course of duty, advising all staff of changes.

To monitor and develop, with the clinical / Operational Team leaders and the MDT, policies and procedures appropriate to the specialist area.

To organise work in such a manner as to ensure the delivery of the highest attainable standard of nursing care to clients in whatever setting and to ensure that each member of staff is aware of his/her duties and carries them out as required.

To act as a source of advanced clinical knowledge and skills for junior staff.

To ensure nursing participation in the discussion of all new referrals to assure that a nursing perspective is brought to bear on discussions made regarding their assessment and management.

Plan and implement effective evidence-based nursing intervention through the problem solving approach of the Nursing Process and within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team approach underpinned by Positive Behaviour Support.

Evaluate the effects of nursing and MDT intervention, re-assessing and consulting and re-planning as necessary, adapting to the changing needs of the patients.

Seek appropriate clinical supervision and to provide clinical and line management supervision for nursing staff.

Undertake casework consultation or supervision with other specialist team members / professionals as appropriate.

Make decisions on suitable locations for implementing assessment and intervention, e.g. in Rothesay, home, school or other community based activities.

Ensure that confidentiality is maintained on all matters relating to the private affairs and treatment of patients and their families.

Be aware of and ensure observation by all staff of the legal requirements of relevant legislation

Be aware of and ensure adherence by all staff to the Leicestershire Interagency Child Protection Procedures.

Undertake work within patients' own homes and act as a lead professional for outpatient patients as allocated.
