CAMHS LD Band 7 Non-Medical Prescriber/Senior Clinical Nurse RNLD/RMN.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced NMP to join our team. This role will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to
further develop skills & expertise while providing a high standard of
care for children & young people with Intellectual Developmental Disability presenting with mental health/ND needs, sleep & behavioural concerns
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their
existing knowledge & skills in assessing & treating mental health needs such as anxiety/depression with CYP with IDD. However, for the right
candidate who can evidence existing skills in the treatment of mental health needs in CYP and the
ability to complete effective assessment & diagnosis of mental health needs within people with IDD.
There will be developmental opportunity available in order to progress in all required areas of knowledge & skills
The successful candidate will also treat sleep-based difficulties & ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge base relating to sleep difficulties in CYP is required
Depending upon level of existing skill/knowledge a developmental role may be at Band 6, with progression
to Band 7 upon completion of a competency framework.
Please note that due
to needs of the service, the retention of this post is only possible with
the successful completion of the competency framework within 12 months.
This role requires the applicant to hold the V300 Independent NMP qualification
Main duties of the job
- As a
senior nurse & non-medical prescriber, the post holder will
hold a complex caseload undertaking assessment, diagnosis & treatment of CYP
presenting with mental health, ND &/or sleep problems.
- Assessment of physical health & continued monitoring will be undertaken, in addition to
behavioural assessment & input, including direct work with CYP/families & other professionals
- All work undertaken by the successful candidate will be underpinned by the NHSE STOMP & STAMP agendas, knowledge of which is required to be demonstrated by applicants in addition to an understanding of other key legislation & events that are driving the care & treatment of people with IDD
- The
post holder will work within the outpatient service undertaking initial
assessment of new referrals alongside MDT colleagues, take part in the duty review rota & the senior LD nurse on call rota, providing advice & guidance to professionals from wider CAMHS & other health & emergency services.
- On-call cover includes evenings, weekends & bank holidays
- As
part of the CAMHS LDT, the post holder will co-work with colleagues within the
MDT as required and also assist in day patient assessments to gain clarity of
complex presentations and prevent inpatient admission
- As a
senior nurse, provision of clinical supervision & line management of staff,
will be undertaken in accordance with NMC & trust policies
Ability to work flexibly to meet patient/service need is essential including early morning, late evening & weekends.

The
CAMHS LDT is a nurse lead service providing assessment, treatment and direct
intervention for CYP presenting with a moderate to Profound Intellectual
Developmental Disability with mental ill health problems, co-morbid diagnoses
and high risk complex behaviours of concern.
We
work within the framework of Positive Behaviour Support ensuring that all
intervention/treatment is appropriate and as least restrictive as possible.
Alongside this, within our prescribing, we also follow the principles of the
STOMP/STAMP policies to avoid inappropriate and/or over prescribing of
medications for children and vulnerable people.
We
also seek to avoid inpatient admissions via our outreach service undertaking
extended day patient assessment and input within Rothesay and the patient home.
