Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our South Leicestershire Community Mental Health Teams for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner.

We provide a caring and supportive service to people over the age of 65 years who have complex organic and functional mental health needs, and people under the age of 65 with early onset dementia.

The clinician will maintain a clinical case load, fulfilling all the roles and responsibilities of a Care Coordinator. They will work effectively in the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality mental health assessments, treatment programs and management of risks. This work will involve patients and their carers in the delivery of evidence based interventions/treatments, recovery focused work.

You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to high quality care as well as possessing good therapeutic and interpersonal skills. The post holder will be required to work with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and the ability to work alone and as part of a wider team.

We will provide a regular clinical/managerial supervision and annual appraisal and you will lead and participate in the development of staff through their appraisal and clinical supervision.

The Team has close partnerships with Social Services, the voluntary sector and the Primary Care Trusts.

Main duties of the job

If you are an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced RMN, RGN, Social Worker or an OT with relevant post-registration experience, we would like you to join our friendly CMHT. You would also have

  • Previous experience of working with mental illness either in an inpatient or community setting.
  • The ability to manage the demands of a caseload and plan a diary effectively.
  • A commitment to and a working knowledge of recovery principles and interventions.
  • Enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team as well as being able to work on your own initiative.
  • Are enthusiastic, positive and ready to work in a transformative environment.
