Job summary
We have an fantastic opportunity to join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service in Leicestershire on a full time basis (part time considered).
3 days a week based on the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Coalville Community Hospital:
You will be working as part of the SLT team with other experienced SLTs and SLT assistant and within the wider MDT. The stroke unit is a 15 bedded community stroke rehabilitation unit, we provide speech and language therapy input both on a one to one basis and in groups (including online carer education / support group).
2 days a week based in the community team:
As part of the community SLT team you can be involved in longer term rehabilitation for people following a stroke and / or other neurological / long term conditions (eg Dementia, Parkinsons, MND) seeing patients in their own homes, remotely or in clinic (as appropriate to need)
Our Speech and Language Therapy Service is county-wide with community, voice and acute hospital teams and supported by a dedicated administration team to provide a high-quality service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We have around 50 clinical staff from Bands 4 to 8a including specialists in voice and dysfluency, neurology, brain injury, stroke, head & neck cancer, dementia and critical care. Our priority is on patient centred, holistic care and understand the importance of supporting staff to develop their skills and interests.

Main duties of the job
Working independently with adults with a range of acquired communication and swallowing disorders, and their carers
- To continue to develop your knowledge and skills which we prioritise through a commitment to CPD in both internal and external training with protected time for CPD / professional reflection / mandatory training. Your development is supported by your annual appraisal and regular clinical and managerial supervision.
- To work both independently and as part of a team, being part of regular team meetings and contributing to the excellent support network which underpins our Service. Working with clinical assistants as appropriate to enhance therapeutic input. You will also be supported by our dedicated admin team and IT support.
- To be involved with service / quality improvement projects / research to develop different ways of working to enhance the care we provide.
