Job summary

If you are a highly skilled and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with Adult Mental Health experience, then we want to hear from you. Main duties of the job

The Role

Whilst a comprehensive Job and Person Specification are attached, summary elements include (but arent limited to):

Working as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist within Psychological Therapy Services and across Planned Treatment and Recovery Teams as an autonomous cognitive behavioural psychotherapist.

Responsibility for the effective management and treatment of patients with complex presentations.

Provide evidence-based CBT interventions and develop treatment initiatives by means of expert evaluation, innovation, and research.

Provide expert CBT education, training, co-working and clinical supervision to clinical staff working within or external to the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A core mental health professional qualification and registration with a statutory professional regulatory body(GMC,NMC, HCPC or Social Work England).
  • Education: Post-graduate Diploma qualification in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy or equivalent e.g., recognised qualification as a High Intensity IAPT therapist.
  • MSc in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy.
  • Full practitioner accreditation with BABCP
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy to the standards of core professional body and the BABCP.
  • Formal training in the supervision of other CBP therapists
  • EMDR training

Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Good consultation skills when providing expert opinion on CBT to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Ability to work using a range of treatment modalities including groups, individual short and long term interventions and self help interventions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively deliver highly complex and technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

Experience

  • Experience of delivering specialist CBT in secondary care setting to a wide range of disorders to people presenting with high levels of complexity, co-morbidity, and risk.
  • Delivering CBT across a range of care settings including outdoor working, patients homes and working remotely and can demonstrate consideration of risks of lone working.
  • Experience of delivering CBT and an understanding of the complicating factors to be considered with complex presentations like cPTSD within a multicultural environment and via an interpreter when required.
