Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 8a (or 2, Band 7 preceptorship posts) for Clinical/ Forensic Psychologists to work full time in the adult autism assessment service (AAAS) and the specialist autism team (SAT). The AAAS service is an autism diagnostic service.

The (SAT) work with young people (14+ years) and adults. SAT offer post diagnostic support to young people and adults with autism and their family/carers. The service is placed within the Families, Young People, Children's, and Learning Disability Directorate.

You will be working 37.5 hours a week providing psychological including diagnostic assessment, formulation, individual and group-based interventions under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist. It is an ideal opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team of multi-disciplinary professionals. The SAT also provide consultancy and advice to health colleagues as well as to community providers.

Main duties of the job

Key elements of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Delivering psychological assessment in the diagnostic service
  • Providing standardized psychological assessment to young people and adults with autism
  • To support delivery of the psychological treatment pathway by providing evidence-based intervention under the supervision of a qualified Clinical/Forensic psychologist.
  • Contributing to development and delivery of the SAT pathway
  • Developing psychoeducational workshops and tools for 1:1 work
  • Co-facilitating psychoeducational workshops alongside members of the MDT
  • Holding a small therapeutic caseload
  • Engaging with clinical supervision
  • Service evaluation and audit
  • Good record keeping standards
  • Travel to service users within the locality
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team policy and procedures

The Successful candidate will meet the essential requirements in the person specification and have some experience of working with people with autism and complex needs. The trust supports continued professional development through supervision and training and holds good research links with local universities. The roles will be based at Hagley House and Charnwood Mill, Sileby Road, Barrow-upon-Soar, Loughborough, however current practice is to work in a blended way with the opportunity to work from home with travel to stakeholders, patients and into the team base on a rota basis.
