Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Practitioner 8b Clinical Psychologist, to lead on developing clinical psychology services to the Neonatal
Units at Leicester General Hospital and the Leicester Royal Infirmary. This role will
also be part of the wider Paediatric Psychology Team.
The Paediatric Psychology Team is a team of 17 and is continuously growing. We are a specialist team, in a larger CAMHS provision within Leicester,
Leicestershire and Rutland.
You will be based within the Department of
Paediatric Psychology, but will work alongside colleagues at Leicester
Children's Hospital sites to provide specialist care to
babies, their families and staff on the Neonatal Care Units.
As a department, we have a strong
ethos of reflective practice including team care spaces, case discussion
sessions, peer supervision and specialist safeguarding supervision. We are
proud of our commitment to CPD and are able to offer successful candidates
opportunities to access a range of specialist training. Post holders will
form close and supportive links with other psychologists working across
neonatal units in the East Midlands Region. There are opportunities to teach
and take trainees from the University of Leicester
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Course. You will also have the opportunity
to offer reflective practice and supervision to medical and allied health
professional colleagues.

Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist psychological
support to babies, their families and staff on the Neonatal Care Units
To liaise with the neonatal multi-disciplinary
team, offering specialised advice and consultation on babies and families
psychological care.
To support the Neonatal Team with FiCare
initiatives, Peer Support Programmes and the Psychosocial aspect of Bliss
accreditation, and to deliver psychologically informed care.
To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy
provided by other psychologists on the unit(s), and to contribute to the
supervision of non-psychologist colleagues.
To contribute to the delivery of teaching and
training to help identify early and screen families who will benefit from
specialist input.
To utilise research skills for the purposes of
audit, service evaluation, policy development and research, joining with other
psychologists in the East Midlands Neonatal ODN, and with the aim of meeting
national and local guidelines/targets.
The post holder will also support the
wider Paediatric Psychology team's line management and supervision structure.

- Training in clinical psychology to doctoral standard (or its equivalent for those trained before 1996) as accredited by the BPS/HPCP.
- HCPC Registration
- Post qualification training and recorded CPD experience and/or further qualifications in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice/specialised psychological therapy or advanced experience in Child and Adolescent Mental health.
- Formal training in supervision of other Psychologists

- Significant experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist.
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
