Job summary

Due to an internal promotion we are pleased to be able to advertise a post for a forward thinking and creative Band 6 Occupational Therapist within Mental Health Services for Older People.

You will be based within our Charnwood Community Mental Health Team located at Loughborough Hospital, working alongside another Band 6 Occupational Therapist. You will be covering the Charnwood neighbourhood, although some work in other areas of our service may be required according to service needs.

The post is part-time, working over 4 days. The service currently operates Monday - Friday and our core hours are 9am - 5pm.

Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) has Occupational Therapists working within The Memory Service, In-Patients on designated Organic and Functional Mental Health Wards, within Community Mental Health Teams throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, the In-Reach Team a specialist service providing support to patients with Mental Health conditions in Community Hospitals and Care-Homes and our Primary Care Mental Health Integrated Care Team.

Main duties of the job

You will be working not only as part of a supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team but a wider Occupational Therapy Team too, the Occupational Therapy Service offers opportunities for induction and in-service training, holds a monthly Peer Support Group and a MHSOP Occupational Therapy Service-wide Professional Development Forum. We are committed to evidence based practice and use the MOHO Framework to inform assessment and intervention.

You will be working with patients in their own homes to promote their independence, maintain skills and reduce the impact of occupational deprivation, our patient group will often have co-existing physical and mental health conditions, making our work varied and at times challenging, but above all extremely rewarding.
