Job summary
Following further expansion of the CAMHS LDT an exciting new post is available for a dynamic and experienced Registered Learning Disability Nurse with post graduate training/qualification, including Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner qualification, experience in regard to the provision of care for Children & Young People and/or adults presenting with Intellectual Developmental Disability, Mental Health issues and complex behavioural concerns with additional co-morbid diagnoses. Established skills and qualification within in Non-medical prescribing essential.
The post holder will work within the specialist community multi disciplinary CAMHS LD team, in conjunction with the operational team leader and team consultant psychiatrist.
The CAMHS LDT is a nationally recognised innovative team which has developed and grown in order to meet the ever increasing needs and challenges of the CYP and their families, achieving Beacon award status for the introduction of the Home Intervention Project. Through the project families received direct hands on intervention within family homes to guide and teach parents/carers to understand their child and manage their difficulties and needs through consistent implementation of appropriate strategies. This has since developed into a wider outreach service.
Training and development of staff is actively encouraged and supported at all levels, with many staff undertaking speicalist training in order to widen the provision of specialist care we provide.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake the role of clinical lead for the team, working alongside the operational team lead. In addition, working clinically as a nurse consultant they will undertake assessment of CYP referred into the service presenting with complex mental ill health and other conditions including ADHD, ASD, Tics, complex sleep disruption and physical health factors. Diagnosing and initiating treatments, and undertaking referrals to other services as appropriate. This includes urgent assessment of patients in Crisis.
The post holder will provide leadership and expertise for non-medical prescribers within CAMHS LDT and for ANP/ACP within wider CAMHS, in addition to holding a complex prescribing case load.
The responsibilities of the clinical lead for the team include overseeing referrals into the team, provision of clinical supervision and mentoring to team members, and other clinicians within wider CAMHS. Provision of consultancy for professionals within LPT and outside agencies, including commissioners, to also be undertaken.
Input into appropriate trust development and governance groups and policy making will be required.
Working hours are Mon-Fri 8am to 8pm with flexibility to work around these times plus some weekends/bank holidays when clinically required.The post holder will undertake out of hours on call duties within the CAMHS LD Senior Nurse on-Call rota.
Due to the wide geographical area the service covers own transport or suitable alternative is essential.

The CAMHS LDT is a nurse lead service providing assessment, treatment and direct intervention for CYP presenting with a moderate to Profound Intellectual Developmental Disability with mental ill health problems, co-morbid diagnoses and high risk complex behaviours of concern.
We work within the framework of Positive Behaviour Support ensuring that all intervention/treatment is appropriate and as least restrictive as possible. Alongside this, within our prescribing, we also follow the principles of the STOMP/STAMP policies to avoid inappropriate and/or over prescribing of medications for children and vulnerable people.
We also seek to avoid inpatient admissions via our outreach service undertaking extended day patient assessment and input in Rothesay and the patient home.
CAMHS LDT sits within LPT FYPC/LD directorate aligned with wider CAMHS services.
