Job summary

Leicestershire Partnership Trust (LPT) is looking to appoint an ADHD nurse specialist to join an established team of band 7 nurses, band 6 nurses and band 4 assistant practitioners.

As an ADHD specialist nurses, the role would require the applicant to support in the assessment and management of children and young people with ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) and ASD (Autistic spectrum disorder) in the Families Young People and Children's (FYPC) Division.

The neurodevelopmental specialist nurse will work in a variety of settings, working closely with the Paediatricians, SALTs and liaising with CAMHS colleagues for selected cases to support an integrated delivery of quality care. They will manage their own caseload but will also supervise and assist the ongoing development of the other team members.

As a band 7 neurodevelopmental specialist nurse, they would need to be qualified and experienced as a non-medical prescriber. They will work closely with the paediatricians to effectively monitor and review medications used for ADHD. The successful candidate would independently run nurse led clinics to facilitate this.

The applicant will bring significant experience of working autonomously within a multiagency arena. Career development will be encouraged and supported.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 7 Neurodevelopmental Specialist Nurse and NMP, the main duties of the role would include:

Nurse Led ADHD medication review clinics. This would involve assessing and monitoring the efficacy of ADHD medication. Ensuring that medication is being prescribed safety, in line with best practice and national frameworks. Providing psycho-education to our service-users and signposting/making onward referrals to other agencies for advise and support as needed.

Clinical Observations as part of our pre-diagnostic pathway.

Providing training to the team to ensure that practice remains up-to-date and that new learning can be shared within the team.
