As a band 6 clinician the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) provides the ideal environment for you to expand your existing skills. We are seeking an experienced Practitioner who has significant post qualification experience working therapeutically with children, young people, and families working as part of the Mental Health Support Team.

We are passionate about supporting & empowering children, young people & families to make informed choices, supporting our team to be autonomous, skilled practitioners.

We are committed to helping our staff learn & develop new skills, supporting our team to become highly trained in delivering care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

This service is particularly aimed at offering low intensity CBT via 1:1 or groups within an education setting in line with mental health early intervention and prevention to children and young people.

Essential

  • Two years post qualification experience working therapeutically with children, young people, and families.
  • Experience of working with evidence-based approaches to low mood, anxiety, and behaviour problems.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and parents presenting with a range of mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour.
  • Have contributed to multidisciplinary team meetings and co-working assessments and treatment within clinic-based and education-based settings.
  • Experience in delivering equitable services to a diverse community which address health inequalities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and display leadership qualities and skills.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering supervision and managing people.
  • Experience working in education settings.
  • Experience of having used mental health services personally.

Qualifications

  • Low Intensity Practitioner Qualification OR PWP/CWP training course qualification.
  • Talking Therapies (IAPT) PWP Supervision qualification (or commitment to complete) plus an understanding of IAPT Supervision guidance and how it should be implemented.

Desirable

  • Other mental health or educational qualifications that assist in the delivery of training.
  • Qualifications in therapeutic approaches with children and families e.g., CBT, solution focussed therapy, play therapy.
  • Additional training in child and adolescent mental health.
