Job summary
Mental Health Urgent Care has an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Support Time Recovery Worker to join the Criminal Justice team. We need experienced Support Workers from a variety of disciplines. The service operates from police custody and court, which directly engages and supports vulnerable people going through the criminal justice system.
The successful candidate will be predominately based in Leicestershire Police stations, working alongside a Mental Health Practitioner. The job involves supporting and screening Adults and Young People from point of arrest, identifying mental health, wellbeing, learning disabilities, speech and communication needs, safeguarding and another vulnerability needs.
Additionally, individuals who have been supported by the criminal justice team maybe followed up within the community using an outreach model. This follow up experience adds great benefit to these individuals and additional meaning to the job role. Also, the role will at times be required to support the service users within the Magistrates court setting.
You will be joining a committed and motivated team in an environment that will reward and challenge you. You would receive an induction programme across the Urgent Care pathway gaining help and support to develop and expand your skills and experience.
The successful applicant will be required to apply for Leicestershire Police vetting clearance and have it approved before a contract can be agreed.
Main duties of the job
The role will include (but not be limited to):
Assisting the criminal justice team in the provision and delivery of programmes of patient care and support under the indirect supervision of registered practitioners.
Supporting clients/service users in maintaining their health and wellbeing
Screening service users for mental health needs
Under the supervision of the Mental health practitioner, assist in planning, organising and placing referrals into other services identified as being beneficial to the service user
Successful candidates will:
Be able to meet the criteria of the Person Specification attached to this role
Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of quality of care
Demonstrate skills in literacy, written, verbal and an ability to effectively use electronic information and computer technology.
Be able to work under the direction of a registered practitioner
Have the ability to work efficiently, effectively and professionally in a multi- disciplinary team
Be capable of working under their own initiative
