Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the
LD forensic team. As an 8b, you will have post-qualification experience,
established clinical leadership skills & enjoy working in LD.
You will lead on psychological aspects of the LD forensic pathway,
working with MDT and multi-agency colleagues offering specialist advice,
reflective practise & consultation as well as a small direct caseload.
We are a supportive MDT team with
colleagues who value psychology. We link with the LD psychology team who aim to promote psychological mindedness & expertise to meet
psychological needs of adults with intellectual disabilities.
We nurture our staff & their
development with regular clinical supervision (individual & peer group),
job plans, annual appraisals and training needs analyses in line with pathway
& professional needs.
Recent CPD has included EMDR, DBT skills,
RSVP/HCR-20, Armidilo-S, CFT, trauma-based PBS. Research and service evaluation
is encouraged.
This post attracts a Recruitment and Retention Bonus. This comprises of
an initial payment of £500 pro rata to hours worked, payable with your after
six months service, a further payment of £1000 pro rata to hours worked after
18 months service and a final payment of £1,500 pro rata to hours worked after
30 months service. Qualifying criteria and Scheme Rules do apply, including a
minimum tenure in post of 36 months to avoid any repayment. Full details are

Main duties of the job
This is a 0.5wte vacancy with an option to work with LD community or CAMHS LD/paediatrics to make a full time post if desired.
- To provide highly specialist clinical psychology service to adults with an ID, their families/carers including: highly specialist
psychological assessments, formulations, & psychological interventions.
- To offer a clinical opinion where the view of
experts may vary and conflict. To use extensive knowledge of
psychological theory to interpret complex information, & communicate
this in an accessible way.
- To work with stakeholders/ multi-disciplinary/agency colleagues; & provide specialist advice/ consultancy.
- Responsible for the systematic provision of clinical psychology service
to the LD forensic team/network
- To lead on psychological aspects of the LD forensic pathway.
- To
work autonomously within the Code of Practice of the HCPC,
LPT policies & be accountable for own professional actions.
- To plan & prioritise own
workload. To work within frameworks of relevant national policies.
- To provide a lead specialist role in psychologically based
assessments/ interventions within LD forensic
network and team.
- To
supervise work of newly qualified clinical psychologists, doctoral clinical
psychology trainees/ assistant psychologists.
- To
undertake audit, research & development in the forensic LD service & CPD.
